About Energy & Water Academy

Leading the way in training and developing our national workforce for energy, water, and industry.

Our story

Established in 2009 to power the nation

The Energy & Water Academy (EWA) was established by ACWA Power under a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), under Council of Ministers Resolution No. 17 dated January 12, 2009. It is registered with TVTC as a non-profit organization in the industrial city of Rabigh, specializing in international-standard training for the water and energy sectors, with programs recognized by the Colleges of Excellence and supported by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).

EWA's training programs have evolved through direct collaboration with industry partners to ensure the training is highly relevant to entry-level roles and that graduates' skills match plant-technician requirements. The academy is the first in the Kingdom to offer training in solar and hydrogen technologies, and all trainees are considered company employees from the day they begin their training.

On June 15, 2023, the academy launched a new identity — moving from the Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) to the Energy & Water Academy (EWA) — to expand its training services and adapt to market needs in line with the Kingdom's national vision.
